Artists, musicians, filmmakers and creatives in Kirklees are being invited to participate in the ‘Creativity in Kirklees’ event hosted by the arts group Culture Collective taking place in January 2025
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, discover other creative industries and practitioners, contribute to shaping Kirklees Council’s new Creative Strategy, and network and share best practices with peers.
ORDER OF EVENTS
Creative Stalls (11.30 am – 1 pm): Sign up for a table to showcase your work or drop in to see what Kirklees has to offer.
Culture Collective Introduction (1 pm – 1.15 pm): A brief overview of the organisation.
Cultural Strategy Workshops (1.15 pm – 3.30 pm): Kirklees Council is developing a new Cultural Strategy to nurture local talent, promote tourism, and support creative industries.
This workshop will explore emerging themes, priorities, and ideas, ensuring the cultural and creative sector contributes at this crucial stage.
The strategy is being developed by CTConsults with support from LOCAL and John Knell. A comfort break will be provided from 2.15 pm to 2.30 pm.
Networking/Social (3.30 pm – 4.30 pm): An opportunity to network and socialise with complimentary refreshments.
Open House In addition to the Creative Stalls, local creative organisations like MakerWorld, West Yorkshire Print Workshop (WYPW), and Thread Republic will offer an Open House drop-in at the Piazza.
CALL FOR CREATIVE PETITIONERS IN KIRKLEES
Creative practitioners living and/or working in Kirklees are invited to submit a short video (maximum one minute) showcasing their work.
The video can be recorded on a smartphone (landscape mode), tablet, or video camera. Submissions can include dance demonstrations, poetry readings, images of artwork, or a short presentation about the creator’s work.

Deadline: Friday, 17 January, 5 pm
Submission Method: Use WeTransfer (or similar) to send the video to CultureCollect@proton.me
Culture Collective, in collaboration with Kirklees Local TV, will compile the videos into a single film to be played at the event and shared on social media and the KLTV website, promoting the rich creative offer of Kirklees.
