Online Event on Climate Emergency: a Local Update
With the UN Climate talks planned for November now postponed, we are still facing a climate emergency. This month's on-line Green Drinks will focus on “think global, act local”. Local contributors will give us a progress report on the responses on climate issues in Kirklees.
Featuring in our on-line meeting will be:
Gideon Richards & Ali Stopher (Kirklees Climate Emergency Group) on the next steps after the recent climate conference in Huddersfield;
Mike Prior (Kirklees Culture Declares) on the results of the week-long event in the Piazza Centre, Huddersfield;
A speaker from Holme Valley about the innovative programme of work planned by HoTT (Holmfirth Transition Town) and Holme Valley Parish Council
Cllr. Andrew Cooper (Leader, Green Party Group, Kirklees Council) on the first year of the Climate Emergency Declaration (as reported to the recent Kirklees Council Scrutiny Committee in March). Kirklees Council official summary of actions on climate emergency - use this link

The format will be a little different from normal Green Drinks. Contributors will have 5 – 8 minutes to provide an update. We will then move to a panel discussion with audience questions/comments.
