Air Quality - a new strategy for Kirklees
Come and discuss Kirklees Council's Air Quality strategy. It is due to be published in draft later this month (April). The more we know about the hazards to health of poor air quality the more urgent it is to adopt measures to reduce its impact - especially on children and vulnerable adults.
Andrew Jameson, Air Quality Officer, will outline the council's proposals. Andrea Lee from ClientEarth will join us (on Skype) and explain what is happening nationally. ClientEarth has challenged the UK Government’s Air Quality Plans three times and each time forced it to go further.
In 2020 Leeds is planning to introduce a large Clean Air Zone and levy charges on a range of vehicles (excluding private cars) if they do not meet minimum emission standards.
