Fairy tales, childhood journeys to a mysterious realm where everything is possible; magical transformations, terrifying witches and giants, stolen children, and imaginary kingdoms. But do these tales reverberate at a different level? What have they to say about our unconscious sexual or murderous feelings? Are they archetypal narratives to help us navigate a morally uncertain world? What was your favourite fairy tale and what does this say about you?
Susie Godsil, Psychoanalyst, looks at the role of fairy tales in childhood development and in the process explores the ideas and differing perspectives of Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, Angela Carter and Philip Pullman
Sameena Hussain. Local drama practitioner & theatre maker, will be creating an improvised physical theatre piece in response to the talk; working with spoken word & physical language.
